Weekly Maker Digest 1

About The Geek Pub’s Weekly Maker Digest

I follow a lot of Makers around the web, and I subscribe to a lot of Maker Channels on YouTube.  Each week I pick my favorite projects from around the Maker Community and post them here (and on The GeekPub Facebook page).  I look for unique and interesting projects, as well projects that require fine craftsmanship, or a specific skill to accomplish.  These makers put a lot of effort into their videos.  So if you like their work, please consider subscribing to their channel!

Steve Carmichael’s CNC Made Electric Guitar

Steve used the Inventable’s X-Carve to make this freaking awesome electric guitar.  I’ve been wanting to make an electric guitar for quite some time, and this is video is inspiring!  Steve used pine and maple in this build.  I really like how he decided to leave the fret board natural color.  And hey, he plays it pretty good too!  You can find his website article about it here: Steve Carmichael’s Electric Guitar

Matt Cremona’s Rocking Bassinet

Matt Cremona is an awesome woodworker. In his latest video he made a rocking bassinet from walnut that just turned out beautiful.  The design is pretty sweet and really shows how different a design can be, but still perfectly functional.  Check it out!   You can also check out his website article on the build here: Matt Cremona’s Rocking Bassinet

 I like to Make Stuff’s Closet Re-Build

Bob Clagett likes to make stuff.  And he’s always very creative it at.  So check out this weeks episode of I Like to Make Stuff where Bob completely rebuilds his kids closet with more functional space.  This is such a great idea, and just about anyone can actually do this project with a a little patience.  Check out Bob’s website article here: I Like to Make Stuff Closet Re-Build

DIRESTA’s Buck Knife Auto Conversion

Sometimes a project fails.  Sometimes with a whimper.  Sometimes with a big bang.  But when a project does fail we always learn something, and we can use that knowledge to make improvements on the next try.  In this video Jimmy Diresta attempts to convert a large Buck Knife into an auto-open or switchblade style knife.  Needless to say he’ll make some changes on take two!
