I bought my WoodRiver 12 Inch Disc Sander from WoodCraft of Hurst, TX on a clearance sale. I got it for just slightly more than the Harbor Freight 12 Inch Disc Sander and this thing is twice the unit. With more horsepower and cast iron table its a sanding beast!
The sander uses adhesive backed pads which are a literal nightmare to change. This has little to do with the WoodRiver model itself, but the nature of adhesive backed pads. It has a cast iron table which is fantastic and works extremely well. It has a dust collection port and I have it connected to my automated dust collection system. It also has a brake at the top with I greatly appreciate and use a lot. This makes sure the the disc isn’t left spinning when you turn it off and walk away. A nice safety feature.
As to why the WoodRiver 12″ Disc Sander was discontinued by WoodCraft, I don’t know because the unit seems to be very high quality and built to last.
