Disable UAC for Administrators

If you’re looking to make UAC less annoying on Windows 7 or Windows Vista Business/Ultimate, while retaining some of your system security we have a solution for you – automatically elevate permissions for users in the Administrators Group.

Many will not like this fix as it does make your system somewhat less secure.  We think it’s worth the risk, but might not be appropriate for inexperienced users.

Disable UAC Prompts for Administrators on Windows 7 or Vista

Note: See below for a registry fix for Windows Vista Home.

In order to disable UAC prompts for administrators you need to open the Local Security Policy for your computer.  To do this click start and type secpol.msc into the Start/Search box (Click Start –> enter secpol.msc in the search box and press enter).  Navigate to Local Policies –> Security Options.

In the list, locate: “User Account Control: Behavior of the elevation prompt for administrators in Admin Approval Mode” and double-click on it.

Change the setting to “Elevate without prompting”.  It’s really that simple!

Disable UAC Prompts for Administrators on Home versions of 7 or Vista

Windows 7 Home and Windows Vista Home do not have the ability to use security policy options.  In order to make this change, we have to update the registry directly.  Download the attached file, unzip it, and double click TheGeekPub-DisableUACforAdministrators.reg.
