What is ControlCenter? Why is it running?

So you’re digging around your Macintosh activity monitor and you spot the process “ControlCenter” and now your wondering “Is it spyware or malware?”   The answer is simple.

ControlCenter is the menubar application provided by Brother. It is for connecting to and operating remote Brother Printers and All-in-One devices.  It is harmless, and recommended to be installed if you have a Brother printer connected to your Mac.

Thanks for the comments and question.

With Windows Vista (even more so with 64-bit) software for Brother printers do not get installed automatically. You’ll need to go to the brother website, click on download software, and then select the printer you have. You’ll see options for 64-bit, or 32-bit Windows Vista. Download and install them, you’ll be good to go. If you give me the model of your printer, I can show you which one to download.
