Hit up your good buddy Google and ask “What is Apple’s market share?” and you’re likely to get a plethora of different answers. Apple’s market share calculations are unique in the industry.
Why you ask? Well it depends on whether or not you classify the iPad as a PC or something entirely different. “But it’s not a PC!” you say. Does it cause a decrease in Netbook sales? “Why yes it does.” Does it compete with the same dollars people are spending on a netbook? “Why yes it does…” Then by all means, we should at least consider that the iPad is related to Apple’s market share of desktop and notebook computers!
In July, Apple reported that it has sold 3.47 million Macintosh Computers in its second quarter. Comparatively HP, the number one PC maker worldwide shipped 4.6 million computers. However, Apple also shipped 3.27 million iPads. If you combine those numbers together, Apple is the number one by volume at 6.75 million units shipped.
While many will continue to deny that Apple s likely the number one computer manufacturer in the United States, the numbers don’t lie. Apple is moving up in a big way, regardless of what Acer’s CEO thinks.

Very good point(s). Now that I have my iPad, I’m never buying another PC again.

Apple is leaving most companies in the dust. They are leading and others are trying to keep up. Right now, they are making some of the best tech products on the market. Their market share will continue to rise.

Someone in Apple is going to get a big fat bonus. Probably guys from the marketing department. It was a good move to release the iPad line all at once

I just love my new iPad.
I think any decent geek should have at least one.
Here’s why:

Rather stupid to bunch ipad with computers. Well, my car is a computer too – it has a small chip that calculates how much fuel can be injected into the engine cylinder, and if I am so inclined, I can attach a CRT to it to get some output on the monitor and a keyboard to send input to the chip.
So maybe GM or WV is the biggest PC seller.
Idiot.

Idiot? Your the idiot, did you not read the post? The computers in your car is not eating away at the numbers of computers being sold, so stop being either stupid or a troll.
The point he was making is that the idea of a “personal computer” has to change, a Mac is a personal Computer, they ( and everyone for that matter) calls everything else a PC to make it easier. In the pure sense of the word a iPad IS a personal computer. Why is it not? Because there’s no cd drive? Or mouse? It still does many a things that a desktop can. Surf the web, play movies and music, play games,
People like you don’t change the world, because you live in a box. Idiot.
